Managing Life the ACA Way
Many in the world have advice for us on how we are supposed to manage our life. Oft times tho, they themselves don’t even seem to take their own advice, wonder why.
How do we view managing our life via the lens of our ACA Program? Let’s take an adventure by exploring our way thru the land of Recovery.

Comparison of 12 Steps and Tony A’s 12 Steps
This evening 6pm PT (9pm ET), we will be holding our monthly workshop. Tonight we will be comparing our regular ACA 12Steps with Tony’s 12 Steps (available here). What is similar? What is different? And what does that mean to us? How do they also relate to the Laundry List?

Emotional Sobriety
Bill W talks about emotional sobriety in a 1958 article in the Grapevine newsletter. In ACA, Emotional Sobriety is the #1 goal of our program. Let’s dig deeper into what we mean by it and what we can do to get and stay emotionally sober.

Sponsorship
ACA tends to be a bit different in the way we handle sponsorship than in other 12 Step programs.
Just finding a sponsor is a little more work. And what’s this “Fellow Traveler” thingy?
For those seeking or those wanting to dip their toe into sponsoring, come learn
the in’s and out’s, what to look for and some good ways to do it.
Keep paper/pen handy, or your computer word processor, as we review our personal
commitment to Recovery and work our Program. Join us in your next step in Recovery.
This will be a 2 hour workshop with a 5 minute break in the middle.

Step 4 – The Difference between Defects of Character vs Laundry List Traits
In a number of 12Step Programs, defects of character are mentioned in
relation to our self inventory of Step 4. In ACA, we usually talk about
our Traits instead. Rather than us being defective, these Traits, which
are enumerated in the Laundry List, are ways of thinking and behaving
that we learned during childhood. It was the only way we knew how to
survive the dysfunctional environment we were growing up in.
Let us take a closer look at Step 4 while keeping Defects vs Traits in
mind. In ACA we learn new ways of thinking and behaving that lead us
out of the dysfunctional ways we were accustomed to. The freedom from
those constraints are like a breath of fresh air. Join us.
